New South Playlists
Do you love it when people make you mixed tapes? I do. And because I absolutely love when (almost) anyone on the entire internet makes a fresh playlist for me to explore, I’m sharing these playlists with you.
I actually constantly create collections of songs that help me out in a lot of ways: My playlists help me sink into my mood and physically experience what I’m feeling; I use music to create ambience in my home and driving in my car; and I put music on to motivate myself to get moving or uplift my mood when I’m in a negative headspace.
Follow my music in Spotify and feel free to share them with friends and family. I’ll continue to add more playlists as they come to fruition, which tends to happen every few weeks or so.
Soothing, vol. 1
I use music to wind my family down at the end of the day. Specifically, I listen to yoga-ish music in the evenings or anytime my nerves are frayed. Think: calm, centered, relaxed.
Here’s a playlist to deliver only soothing vibes.
The New South
My happiest memories from my childhood all have something to do with my family’s farm.
I even loved the drive out I-20 East from Atlanta that we took every Friday when my dad was done with work. All four of us (plus our dogs and the cats that braved the highway in crates that my dad bungeed down back in the open bed of his pickup truck) shared space in the truck’s cab in a fragile togetherness rarely enjoyed as a young family of four. In the hour long ride, no one spoke besides the inevitable squabble between my older sister and I about who had more space in the back seat. Once our weekly fight began, my mom or dad dealt with the irritation of sibling rivalry by inserting a cassette tape of either bluegrass or country or gospel music and pressing play. And turning the volume up.
I made a playlist that captures the music and feeling of these weekly family pilgrimages to a place that, for me, held the very best of us.
The Love List // by The New South
Today happens to be Valentine’s Day and I am a straight-up sucker for love. And a non-religious holiday with no emotional baggage (for me, personally) where we say positive stuff to each other?? I’m in. Let’s tell each other we love each other all day long, every day, forever.
So – to bring some love vibes into your life, here’s the non-traditional love songs playlist I’ve been developing.
Sending you <3 and xo’s –
